I can't imagine your life but you have my gratitude. As my husband travels his tangy treatment plan, his doctors are our information sources, our cheerleaders, and our friends. And then they go to the next person and do the same for them. I value our doctors as his trusted partners. Thank you for choosing this path.
Well written! Thanks for sharing. As a physician, I can read between the lines and feel what you feel. Taking a deep breath between patients is a story within itself. Your life is so similar to my life as an obstetrician. One difference is that my calling was, generally, a happier time. But those happier times seem to occur in the middle of the night!
Thanks for sharing your perspectives as an oncologist. During my chemo and radiation and two surgeries for advanced colorectal cancer, my wife and I bonded like family with our lead oncologist. After two years of being declared cancer-free, I still keep in touch between my 90-day checkups.
That's a lot, Daniel. It's good to know that you have such a good support by your side. MDT meetings seem to be a game changer and certainly transformed my mum's prognosis. She seems to be doing incredibly well on pembrolizumab and we await her CT scan next month with optimism. Are there any nutrition specialists around your table, virtual or otherwise? Best, Dawn
That’s great news! We invite all services to be present at our multidisciplinary conferences. The tricky part is that we have 10 different tumor boards per week and only 2 dieticians for oncology. I’m advocating to increase that number. They do offer nutrition classes at the cancer center throughout the week to try to reach as many patients as possible.

Thank you, JoAnn!

Thanks Joel. Fortunately, not too many late night calls in Oncology but like OB the stakes are always high.

You’re right Mikel, it’s quite a special bond. Congrats on being cancer free!
Thank you for all you do

Thanks for your reflections!
Thanks for sharing ‼️ So good to know how committed you are to your work and your family.
I am lucky the hospital gives me Tues and Thurs for admin/research days, so some time to catch up and decompress.
